How We Saved $322,062 with Microsoft Internal Use-Rights at The Partner Masters

One of the conversations I've enjoyed hearing lately is how teams across TPM are helping partners better understand and maximize the value of their Microsoft Internal Use Rights (IURs).

The reason we can have these conversations is because of our own experience using IURs. This is something I’ve been deploying and seeing near immediate financial and operational impact on how we do business with the Microsoft Partner community.

As Microsoft's new fiscal year approaches, I wanted to share our own experience and the measurable value we receive from our Microsoft partnership to the tune of $322,062.

What Are Internal Use Rights?

For those unfamiliar, IURs are one of the many benefits available through Microsoft's partner programs. Basically, IURs allow partners to use many of the same Microsoft technologies they recommend to customers without incurring the full commercial licensing cost.

However, there is an important distinction between redeeming benefits and utilizing benefits.

Redeeming benefits means claiming what is available through your partnership. Utilizing benefits means actively deploying those licenses and credits throughout your organization and integrating them into your daily operations saving you real money.

To think of it another way, holding a winning lottery ticket is good, redeeming it is what changes your life.

TPM's 2026 Six Figure IUR Impact

In 2026, TPM realized $322,062 in cost savings through the use of Microsoft Internal Use Rights, including Azure credits and Microsoft software licenses. Without these partner benefits, we would need to purchase the same technologies directly from Microsoft or through a Cloud Solution Provider (CSP).

Instead, our Microsoft partnership helps offset those costs while allowing us to equip employees with the tools they need to succeed. As TPM continues to grow as quickly as it is, the value of these benefits will grow and scale alongside us.

How TPM Uses IURs

The value of IURs is not a theoretical dollar value for TPM. These benefits support many of the systems and tools our employees rely on every day.

Our Microsoft licenses help power collaboration, communication, productivity, security, and business operations across the company. The Azure credits help support the environments, solutions, and services that enable us to deliver value to our clients.

Outside of operational cost savings and streamlining, it gives us knowledge inside the Microsoft stack of technologies. The benefits we see, the quirks we learn, the updates we explore all turn into opportunities to help our Partners understand hidden opportunities they can apply to not only their businesses, but their customers as well.

Why This Matters for Partners

Many partners focus on earning benefits but don't always dedicate time to understanding how those benefits can be applied across their organizations.

When fully utilized, IURs can create meaningful savings that can be redirected toward hiring, training, sales, marketing, customer success, or business expansion.

The organizations that receive the greatest value are often the ones that take the time to:

  • Understand the benefits available to them
  • Identify workloads that can leverage those benefits
  • Align licenses with employee needs
  • Regularly review benefit utilization
  • Develop a plan for ongoing adoption

A Story Partners Can Relate To

One reason TPM's IUR story resonates with partners is because we face many of the same business challenges they do.

We are balancing growth, managing costs, supporting employees, and delivering exceptional customer outcomes.

The difference is that we have made a conscious effort to ensure the benefits included in our Microsoft partnership are being actively utilized throughout the organization.

The Opportunity Ahead

As we work with partners throughout the coming fiscal year, I encourage all of us to continue helping organizations move beyond simply redeeming benefits and toward fully utilizing them.

TPM's $322,062 story is proof that Internal Use Rights can create meaningful business value when they become part of an organization's operating strategy.

If you'd like to learn more about how TPM uses its IURs, have questions about specific benefits, or want help identifying utilization opportunities for partners, my door is always open.
